XBOX 360 India Launch – Exclusive Information

A Few months back it was decided that Microsoft will finally be selling Xbox 360 in India which came as a surprise to be honest. It was said that Xbox 360 will be launched during the “Diwali” Time which is a big festival in India. The Price of Xbox 360 core box will “Rs 19990″ [ 435 US $] and not much was said about the premium box.

Fast Forward Today..

I have some more information regarding Xbox 360’s availability in India like availability of games, Launch date and the exact prices of games and the console.

Xbox 360 Premium Version is gonna cost Rs 25250 [ 548 US $] this includes Shipping and other taxes. This is a Pre-booking offer, The actual price will be Rs 27250 [600 US $]

Coming to the most important part, the games are gonna cost Rs 2510 [US 55$].

The following games can be Pre-ordered:-

1) Project Gotham Racing 3

2) FIFA 2006

3) Kameo

4) Perfect Dark Zero

5) Dead or Alive 4

6) Rockstar-Table Tennis

7) Top Spin 2

Elder Scroll : Oblivion [Will be Delayed]

9) Dead Rising [Will be Delayed]

10) Lord of the Rings : Battle for Middle Earth II

11) Burnout Revenge

12) Battlefield 2 : Modern Combat

13) Need for Speed : Most Wanted

14) Fight Night : Round 3

Rest all will be available in the coming months that is October and November. I am kinda surprised that Microsoft has not included Halo 2 in the list
Launch Details:-

“Xbox 360 will be launched in the last week of september 06 most probably after 23rd”

A Launch party will also be held for the formal launch of the product. It will be taking place in Delhi and should be in November 06

Redington India Ltd will be looking after the distribution of Xbox 360 in India. Currently they plan to have Service centre’s/Retail outlets in 7 cities of India which are “Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune“. Now Incase your city is not listed and are wondering where to buy games and other accessories from?? Dont worry for the time being Redington will be hooking you with their partner from whom you can order your game

Also its not very sure that if Microsoft will be launching Xbox Live in India or not?

The Launch party is gonna be taking place in Delhi prolly sometime in November 06. I am not sure regarding the free passes, but speaking to some of my friends in USA who had attended the worldwide launch of Xbox 360, it wasnt pass restricted but chances are this one will be.

I dont think there will be any sort of upgrade kits, just get back to them and see if you can cancel your existing order.

the region for the india xbox 360 is PAL. it is given even on the xbox 360`s web page,ie http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908223/en-us?sd=xbox
I have told my dad to get an xbox 360 from uk. and uk`s region is under PAL. Now im confused. should i tell him not to buy it or buy?. the price of uk`s xbox 360 is 279 pounds which allows you a choice to get 2 games for 20 pounds. so it works out cheaper than buying it india. he`s coming soon,so i need a quick answer.pls help me out prince!

Hey Nikhi,
Its been confirmed that Xbox 360 in India will be PAL ,so i think you can safely order one from UK.Prices in UK are definitely cheaper compared to India. From what i have heard, the core now just costs 199£ which is dirt cheap compared to over here.
So i guess i have cleared all ur doubts If you have anymore,, do let me know..will be glad to help you out.

I will be honest but i dont support piracy and warez.Now coming to your question, you cant run pirated games on 360 unless you get ur 360 modded. If you are asking whether you will be able to play Xbox 360 games that are available in customs shop, then again the answer is no because those games were meant to be run on an NTSC/J Region console. In My opinion just buy the games that will be available here, by Nov 06 all the titles should be available, or if you have relatives living in PAL region like Uk or some other EU Countries, you can get games from there for cheap

hi Prince thanks for the useful review you did. I live in Bangalore and was wondering if MS has already setup a retail shop or a demo booth here. I’m all geared up to buy the premium version and maybe a 32″ HDTV if i have some money left:) lol.. but 1st i need to make sure whether to buy last year’s games or wait till games like NFS – Carbon,NBA 07 and the like are released.

First of all, i really dont know where in Bangalore Xbox 360’s retail shop is. Coming to the next part of your query regarding games, its totally upto you. I mean it depends on what kind of games you like to play,see the games that i like may not be liked by you and vice versa.Currently Xbox 360 has many good titles and in the near future more can be expected. Some exclusive games like Gears of war, Halo3, Fable 2,Viva Pinata are expected in the near future. There is nothing like wait in consoles.Just get one and Jump in

Think it’ll be available as many people will not go and buy it. It’s also rumored that it’ll launch tonight at 12 in Mumbai
As for the games, Prince has already pointed out there will be many good titles releasing as well. Well the only problem for me is Xbox live service. It pisses me off that ISP’s in this country are not doing anything to upgrade their existing network I mean for God’s sake even in Malaysia they have a 1 mbps line so how do they expect us to use Live services with a 256 kbps connection

I have a doubt regarding the PAL and NTSC stuff. I know that in US, the system is NTSC and in UK and India we have PAL system.

But if I get an XBOX 360 from US, won’t I be able to use it here in India? I mean most TVs these days support multi system. If that is the case, why won’t I be able to use that in India.

But I have another doubt. Even if the console from US works in India, will the basic version of XBOX live (the one that is free) work in India? Does XBOX 360 in India even have XBOX Live built in? What about games that I purchase from India (of course original games)? Will they have PAL/NTSC issues?

You need to have Xbox 360 Premium to enjoy Xbox live service or alternatively you can get the hdd or memory unit for the core box, the games that will be available over here will be PAL. You cant play PAL games on NTSC xbox and vice versa.

im from pune.The xbox 360 premium in pune’s Planet M costs around Rs.27,590!i met 1 dude who advised me not to buy xbox in such a hurry & told me that the prices will be lowered preety soon.is it true?
Also a guy at a small pc games shop told me that he will sell me the premium one for Rs.23,990 along with the bill.So shuld i buy from him rather than planet m?I mean if i get the bill than it is safe to buy.right?

Sorry mate but i’m still clueless as to where xbox 360 will retail. MS has announced that Redington is their official retailer but i don’t see any retail shops around here in Bangalore nor any other shop for that matter
This evening i tried watching the live coverage of the show in Delhi but only one channel had it and it was Headlines Today. It started around 7PM and went on for only 30 mins. I was expecting to see Peter Moore but instead the damn channel kept on interrupting with ads and stuff:( and i guess in the end didn’t have time to air the whole show Back in the US MTV covered everything and i don’t understand why it didn’t happen here. But anyways it was interesting what the interviewee had to say when it came to the availability of games in India, and the soon to be released service of xbox live here:)

As for the price i think i’ll wait for a couple of days till Redington sets up proper retail shops and then i’m gonna get me a Premium version:))

Prices are always gonna go down as time passes,i feel that the product has just launched so dont expect the price to go down very soon.Planet M is genuine, ask that guy if the Console is Japanese or just check the console by urself, if you find anything written in Japanese, then DONT GO FOR it becoz it will be having NTSC/J region. I have got some brochures and the prices are as follows:

Core = Rs 19990 [Excluding taxes] Premium = 23,990 [excluding taxes], you need to add 4% VAT too and other taxes that levy in ur area etc. So it pretty much comes to the cost that i had mentioned before.I had pre-ordered mine from Redington which costed me abt 27750, which includes the premium pack and PGR3 game [Taxes, shipping all included] but again this was a pre-order deal.
Watch out for my blog as i plan to put Pics and videos from the actual event

I called today (sunday 24/09/06) Planet M in Bangalore and this dude tells me that they have both versions of xbox 360. I asked him about the premium version and as Jake pointed above it’s selling for Rs.27,590 with Fifa 06 bundled together. Kind in a dilemma now as to go and buy it right now or wait till Redington sets up a shop. I’ve been loosing my sleep since MS announced about the launch here in India and it’s getting frustrating to wait now that it’s here

I checked out the xbox 360 at planet m in delhi. They told me that the prices are not going to come down anywhere soon and also that the premium version doesn’t have a game bundled with it. I thought they might be giving 2 or 3 games with premium version if they are giving 1 with core version. They also didnt had any xbox 360 games at there shop, so if i buy the premium version then from where am i going to get a game.

Core version will not be coming with any free game, it was just a Pre-order package,in the near future, dont expect it.

try Planet M since they are keeping the console so you might find the games too. Just my opinion but getting the core box is one of those most stupidest things to do,i will suggest just wait and try getting the premium one.

Hi,
I got my xbox 360 Premium today from Planet M Bangalore. It’s the PAL version. Just got back home, set it up and played Top Spin 2. For now they only had Top Spin 2 and they said after 2 or 3 days they will contact me when they get more games…I’m loving it, graphics is just awesome!! The only sad thing is that there’s no game bundled with the Premium version
Here is the low down on the stuff included in the box
1) one remote control with batteries
2) one wireless controller with batteries
3) one headset
4) a HD/AV cable
5) an ethernet cable.
Since i bought the Premium version i had to pay Rs.27750(including taxes) plus Rs.2500 for Top Spin 2.
Tomorrow planning to add Rs.1200 (controller recharger) and one more wireless which will cost me around Rs.2800. The wired controller sells for Rs.2100
So anyone who buys the Premium version your total cost will be around Rs.30200 adding one wireless controller and recharger it’ll come up close to Rs.36000..
Well will update you guys as i dig in deep..gonna get my game on now

hey pete,why did u waste 2500 on top spin 2.u shouldve waited and bought pgr3 or ghost recon instead.im in delhi and a shop next to ma house named neo planet (priya complex) said that they’ll be gettin games in a few days.they had pgr3 and fifa world cup but they said they sellin only wid d console on that day(23 sept).anyway i got ma 360 4 months ago from uk.it for 280 pounds der(much cheaper).

Considering the game list in planet M Top Spin 2 was my only chance..i’m not into Fifa because i’m waiting for Pro Evo 6 to come out next month:) i’ve put aside a lot money for games like Gears or War, Splinter Cell – Double Agent, NFS-Carbon and more..right now considering whether to buy Perfect Dark Zero or not..
for those of you who live in Bangalore there’s a demo booth in Adidas showroom (Forum Mall). They had a samsung HDTV and i personally wasn’t impressed with the graphics (maybe they didn’t set it up properly)..
As for pgr3 i’m not into the whole racing sim and i had already played Ghost Recon on my pc back in March..
Today i’m planning to go to planet M and check out a few accessories

as for perfect dark…..its not that good a game.ive playd it meself and its so-so.and…gears of war,nfs-carbon etc……yeah …i guess u should wait for them.also,ghost recon for xbox360 is 10 times better than pc version.gamespy gave 5stars to 360 version and around 3 for the pc version.

Regarding the xbox 360 modding part,i will suggest you not to go for it since MS bans those consoles on Xbox live, so there is no point tbh. I have got PGR3 as my first game,i had lots of problems too deciding the games but i somwhow managed to select this one. I have to agree though that the games are pretty exepensive so i will buying 1 game in a month,

hello everyone,
i bought a new xbox 360 recently & played the game dead or alive 4 on it.the game started perfectly but the problem is that i dont know how to exit the game!actually when u put the cd the game starts & “PRESS START” screen appears.after pressing START button v get the options like CARRER MODE,VERSUS MODE,TRAINING,SETTINGS etc etc but there is no EXIT OPTION,only a BACK button.after pressing BACK i returned to the “PRESS START” screen.over there,there is no EXIT or BACK option!i tried out all the keys on the controller but the game didnt close!so i switched off the console & then removed the cd.So guys can u tell me how to return to the dashboard from the game?I WOULD BE REALLY EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO THE ONE U TELLS ME>>>

I pre-ordered my console, I got an Xbox 360 premium + PGR3 for just Rs 27750 so i guess i got a very nice deal. These are the stuffs that i plan to buy in the coming months,

1)Gears of War , 2) Viva Pinata

Charger for the Wireless controllers and a new controller,

I might try to get a Samsung 32″ LCD, it looked pretty sweet, right now i plan to hook the console with my Samsung 20.1″ LCD
but i have still not recieved my console and its becoming pretty frustrating =/

I think you are right I shuouldn’t be modding my xbox and by the way it is a good strategy to buy 1 game a month, if you think the games are expensive. When I buy my xbox i might go for The Elder Scrolls® IV: Oblivion™ .I have read that it is a very good game and it might keep me busy for some time before i buy another game.Other game i would like to buy are ghost recon advanced warfighter,pgr3 andgears of war.

Thats what my plan was, i was suppose to get Elder Scrolls Obilivion but my sources said that it wont be available in the Pre-order list due to certain delays, so i got PGR3, Gears of war comes out either on 7th Nov or 12th, I am totally looking forward for that game. though be warned that Elder Scrolls oblivion has lots of bugs in it, do google it before you get it

I feel your pain brother..i faced the same thing before i found out this:
-> simply press the xbox guide button either on your controller or the remote.
-> you’ll get the xbox dash board and from there just press the ‘Y’ button on your controller and you’ll get a warning telling you that if you exit all unsaved data will be lost. Simply save your progress before hand and choose ‘yes’ and you’re done mate

Today went back to planet M to buy all my accessories which are:
* 1 wireless controller (Rs.2840)
* 1 Memory Stick 64MB (Rs.2020)
* 2 Play & Recharge Kit (2×1210 = Rs.2420)

Total of Rs. 7280. Now i got the full blown console only thing missing and i’m waiting for is the wireless feature for the 360 to stream media files from my media center PC.

Here are some games with release dates that are gonna keep me busy till Jan 07
1) NBA Live 07 (read on gamespot that the physics and motion are over the top..) -> 25th Sept 06
2) Splinter Cell Double Agent -> 17th Oct 06
3) NFS Carbon -> 31st Nov 06
4) Gears Of War -> 7th Nov 06
5) Lost Planet Extreme Condition -> Sometime in Jan 07

Why are you getting the memory unit? The HDD will save stuffs for you, btw that wireless stuff is pretty expensive, close to 100$

Can you tell me where i can get that wireless accessorie? coz yesterday when i checked in planet m they didn’t have it..with the premium they give you an ethernet cable but it’s a bit short coz my PC is in my room while my 360 is in the living room
As for the memory unit i had to get it coz when checking the free space left on the 20GB HDD, only 15GB was left (5GB was used for system purpose) so figured i’ll use it to store some of my music and movies and the 64 MB memory unit for my games..
As for Viva Pinata i don’t think it’s my type of game mate
And for the tv i’m looking around for Sharp LCD panels i heard it’s good and offers a minimum of 720p resolution all the way upto 1080i i’m guessing the price will be around Rs. 60,000 – 70,000.

Dude if the ISP’s in this country continue giving the same miserable speeds then i don’t think there will ever be an xbox live..i mean in other developed countries they just plugin their 3mbps+ cable/dsl lines and they’re connected instantly
The problem here is that many companies use a dialer to go online and that feature is not integrated into neither the xbox nor the xbox 360
I’m guessing the one reason why MS didn’t start the xbox live service is because ISP’s don’t have the proper network speed to fully make use of the service.

PS3 should be released sometime in November 06, yeah it does has many features but most of them are useless to us like a Blu-ray drive, First not many people have an HDTV to enjoy HD and secondly Blu-ray titles are still not available over here and the costs of these movies in abroad are 40-50$. Offcourse there are some cool stuffs that come with PS3 like an inbuilt WiFi which is not found in Xbox and u need to pay for the addon. PS3 is gonna cost 600 US $ so in India it might cost even 700-800 [Cant say but just a guess] which is way too high for a console, even if it does come in the grey markets, its gonna cost atleast 620$+..

On the other topic, My xbox 360 got finally delivered but they forgot to send me a game which i will be getting tomorrow [Hopefully] , They sent me an extra HD cable pack which i never asked for, on contacting them they said i could keep it..lol

Like Prince pointed out the PS3 will be expensive maybe close to around Rs.42,000 – Rs.45,000 (with all the add-ons and taxes..heck for my xbox 360 it started with Rs.27,750 and with all the accessories and a single game it went up till ~Rs.37,000. Another fact is that Sony will start shipping it to India maybe beginning of 2008 because the launch for Europe has been pushed back till March 07 and the US and Japan will get it in Nov 06..and the availability of Blu-Ray worldwide is becoming questionable as companies backing the format are starting to have 2nd thoughts about it mainly the movie sutdios.

256kb/sec is rougly 2mbit line, offcourse it will work fine with that kind of line. Average broadband users in India have 256kbps Adsl line. Its kinda difficult playing on that kind of line not impossible

Planet M is selling for 27750….without any game (guess its PAL)

Ebay – its available for 21000-24000 (NTSC/J)

is it worth going in for PAL if NTSC is available for cheap. what are the implications. Normally, for how much will I be able to get PAL/NTSC games for(theres a difference in prices??)..

also, is there any other place in and around Pune from where I can get the PAL version for cheap

Hey Zubin,
The Xbox 360 that are legally available are PAL, the one’s that are smuggled from abroad are NTSC/J ,you cant run NTSC/J games in PAL Console and Vice Versa, its advisable to go for a PAL console because technical support,warrantly etc will be available. If you save money now you will lose out in the long run.Remember the 360 will be there for atleast 2 yrs [Could be more too],now if you think that the Premium too expensive go for a Core Version and later on you can add the extra accessories or buy the console from UK,Australia or any other PAL regions.Games that are available over here are generally gonna cost from Rs2000 – Rs3000, just giving you a price bracket. I bought Project Gotham Racing 3 for Rs 2510

I got the PGR3 from the Pre-order kit. Its just an ok game atleast thats what i felt but then again i just played it for like 15 mins.I have to say one thing though, Playing Xbox 360 on normal flat tv’s is same as playin a PS2.I was speakin to my friend in US,he said that Xbox 360 can truly be enjoyed on a nice Widescreen LCD.Now i am just gonna get the cable and hook it with my widescreen lcd [19.1" with HDCP support]. I think Microsoft should give discounts on Samsung LCD’s since in all their KIOSKS, Xbox 360 was hooked to Samsung 32″ screen.

thanks Prince i own a videocon 21″ standard TV and i can tell you that it looks amazing much better than a PS2’s graphics. Can imagine how what it would like on an HDTV anyways as for the games i guess i’ll have to just sit and wait till Redington starts distributing games maybe by next week
Funny thing is that there are small shops that sell pirated games that are new (eg: NBA Live 07 which released just 4 days ago and many others games) but there’s no point in getting those as only the modded 360’s can play it

I can always get my xbox 360 modded, but i am thinking about the long term, its better to buy one game in a month rather than getting my xbox 360 banned from the Xbox Live Server forever.They are adding so much more content on Xbox Live. Once your 360 gets banned, the only way you can then play Xbox live is by buying a new one.

I couldn’t agree with you more there’s no way i’m gonna get mine modded too.
Gonna go out today looking for an HDTV, saw one ad from Samsung. Model is Bordeaux 32 inches R7 HDTV selling for Rs.79,000. There’s also one HD-DVD player that comes with it for free which costs around Rs.8000. If i buy the HDTV, the HD-DVD player can up-convert all my movies to 720p or 1080i as desired through a HDMI connection.
Gonna take all my HRHDTV IMAX doucmentaries and a few divx movies to test that thing

Got my 32″inches Samsung LCD TV and graphics is just mind blowing with it i got a free HD-DVD player and even that played all my Divx movies flawlessly at a resolution of 720p or 1080i. I had a few IMAX documentaries which standard tv’s won’t play but on this LCD the detail and clarity is just unbelievable
Also bought 1 HD/AV cable coz with the Premium box they gave me an AV cable only..and finally got the game Dead or Alive 4. Now gonna setup the LCD and my 360

thats not an HD-DVD player, its a normal DVD Player by Samsung. Secondly Samsung Bordeaux 32″ Just does 720p and not 1080i. Chances are your Imax movies are just Divx thats why your normal dvd player didnt play In any case neither HD-DVD nor Blu-Ray players have been officially launched in India. The Samsung DVD player supports Divx hence it played ur Imax documentaries. anyways congrats!! on the new LCD

Thanks prince. As for the HD-DVD it’s only a dvd player but can convert the input signal to 720p or 1080i. I’ve read the brochure for it and even the LCD supports both 720p and 1080i resolution. The reason it can do this is because both the HD-DVD player and and LCD are gonna be through an HDMI input which amplifies the signal and gives you the desired resolution in this case it’s either 720p or 1080i.

go to http://www.xbox.com/in

Go to “My Xbox” and signup, in the process, that is the last step it will ask you if you want to register ur console ie Xbox or Xbox 360 just click on Xbox 360. Over there you can fill your other details like serial no, name,address etc. You will need a passport or msn or hotmail account for regging. As of now i think they are having a bit of problems because when i wasnt able to regg mine sucessfuly. On the Xbox forums people are suffering with the same prob

1) Xbox Live has still not started in India but i dont think there should be any problems for you.

2)I am not very sure but i think you will need some kind of coverter to be able to play NTSC/US console in India. Check the link below,

Thanks Sameer the reason i’m so desperate right now is because i’m only playing Top Spin 2 and DOA 4. Dying to get GRAW or some kinda war game for that matter none of the shops here in bangalore have that game and the only games they have so far are :

sorry i have been busy for a while and in the near future might not be so active too. Anyways in the past i have said that NTSC games cant work in PAL and vice versa, what you can do is that buy games that are region free which means they will work on NTSC as well as PAL consoles or just get PAL Games. http://www.play-asisa.com is a website that has many region free games. I have no ideas about this website so dont really ask around over here about the website, Mr Mohit Anand is saying that new games are expected very soon also he said that some surprise will be revealed at the end of November.

Apart from that i found one cool dealer here in Bangalore who is willing to get me whichever games i ask him..I’ve been asking for PGR 3 since the day i got my 360 from many dealers and they all sucked..except this dealer i mentioned. I went to his shop and he said he can get it in a day and he did the original PAL version with Microsofts seal on it. Been playing it like crazy and all i can say is WOW!!!!
I’ve asked him if he can get me GRAW and he said to come back again tomorrow (monday)..can’t wait

Metallic Ipod is ok, I am gonna wait for Zune to see how it is, the ui and large screen really tempts me plus it comes with built in WiFi, so lets see how things work out. I have always liked one of those special edition U2 ipods too.

Get a Nintendo Ds Lite from Japan or New york, since its the most sold out console/handheld but its upto you totally. Dead Rising is the only Xbox 360 game to be sold out in Japan. heh
I dont expect much to be changed, Blue Dragon will decide the fate of Xbox 360 in Japan. I have a friend of mine who has pre-ordered a Nintendo Wii, so you can expect a review/pics and others on my blog

On The Off-topic,
today while playing my xbox 360, my console locked up totally, i had to manually press the power button on the console since the buttons on the controller were not working. This happend while i was playing Dead or Alive 4 and my playtime was just 40 mins. So i am just gonna monitor this issue for sometime, if it happens next time, I am gonna get my console replaced by Microsoft.

Dude, i am equally as pissed as you i think MS is taking advantage of us, the genuine buyers, not doing anything about it.
Since this is prince’s blog we will not turning it into another war, have seen enough in the xbox forums.
By the way, the games are really boring except for 2 or 3 titles and that’s it Look, nba live 07, nba 2k7 and fifa 07 are already released internationally but here noooooo!!!! we’re still stuck with fifa 06. This gives you a clear idea about the future games that are gonna be released, such as Gears of War and may other, that they won’t be released here for sometime (don’t ask me the reasons why). Although, Peter Moore and Mohit Anand have repeatedly stated that these games will be available on lauch day i highly doubt it.
Look at South Africa’s xbox site, it’s updated once in a week and they even host spcecial xbox 360 tournaments, podcasts, and even special tv programs about the latest 360 game trailers and cheats..
I’m just feeling void right now and feel betrayed by MS and Redington (it’s just talks and no action ). Gettin’ tired of calling PlanetM and all other 360 retailers each day to check if they’ve got new games or not..
I’ll just leave it like this for now and better go to bed

I dont live in Delhi and i dont support piracy in anyway, so its a bit useless asking over here. Panasonic Viera available over here is plasma only and quite frankly i would like to stick with an LCD. The cheapest Samsung Bordeaux model is for Rs 49,000 which is a 26″ LCD. Similarly you can look out for Sony’s Bravia models but they come without HDMI port, if you just wanna run Xbox 360, i will suggest Bravia too since xbox 360 itself lacks an HDMI port.

Now i’m pretty much convinced tha the PS3 will kick a**..i watched a small tech video which was held in New York, and boy!!! nba 07 looks amazing on a 1080p screen..even the guys that played other games were blown away by the graphics and power of it.
Well i hope that Sony releases it here soon although it’ll be much more expensive. But at least, if they setup kiosks like the 360, we can all make our decisions based on it.

1080p can only be noticed if you have an HDTV larger than 40″ otherwise its very difficult feeling the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Xbox 360 will kick ass because their HD-DVD will work with Pc too where as Blu-Ray becomes useless on the other side, there are more then 32 games that are exclusive to Xbox 360 only. I am confident that i have made a correct choice with Xbox 360. Yesterday a limited edition of xbox 360 with Blue Dragon sold more then 10,000 units of Pre-order in Japan. Also Microsoft plans to introduce a 100gig HDD for 360. I dont doubt my judgement and i am totally happy with it.

Mate, both games are excellent they make full use of the 360’s power giving you amazing graphics and gameplay.
So my advice to you is to try to get both If not possible, then try getting SC-DA since it’s more recent and multiplayer is good when Live launches here.

Dev you can get an Xbox 360 from USA but itll most probably be NTSC so you wont be able to get games in India in all major retails but my Xbox 360 is also NTSC but i get my games from small shops and I got my Xbox modded.I advise you to buy your Xbox from London or Buy it from india.And dont worry you’re xbox will work with your red,yellow and white port TV.Remember Pal games dont work in NTSC systems and vica versa.so if u buy an Xbox from US,u will have trouble buying NTSC games in gujarat.Cheers Mate

The 360’s sold in the USA are NTSC versions and will not work here in India. And furthermore, your tv set has to be compatible with PAL inputs because the 360’s sold here are PAL versions. When it comes to games you can only play games which are of PAL versions, unless you get region free games.

People who are regular over here might notice that “Alan’s” comments have been removed. They have been done so because he was lying with his shit. He claimed to be in Tokyo and New York which is impossible, my blog has various filters which tracks ip-addresses, his ip clearly stated that he was in India all the time. I wont be posting his Ip-Address but i can say that his isp was “Hathway” and the first two octets were “203.212.*.*” since the 3rd and 4th octets changed always. By The Way Alan, just so you know, Nintendo Wii will be launching in Mid-november so there is no way you could have bought 7 games for it, regarding the prices of the consoles anyone can quote since its the mere conversion of dollar into Rupee. Just so you know, Gears of War and Viva Pinata are not availabe anywhere.In New York and other american cities , Microsoft had kept the gaming event for Gears of War. So there is no way you could have bought the games. [I have confirmed this with my friends in Microsoft Xbox Division, Redmond, WA USA].

I hope everyone gets a lesson out of this.

Is it possible to find a dealer in new delhi who will ship the xbox 360 to your home and then even fix the whole setup in my home.I found one dealer at an electronics shop(mainly TV’s). is it safe to buy from them.
and also I would like to know what’s the latest update on the availability of games,is GRAW now available. Atleast oblivion is available, that i know.

I don’t know about Delhi dude but you can buy your 360 from any licensed shop you feel is trustable. For example here in Bangalore, there are more than 10 shops with kisoks and xbox 360’s lying around each ranging from cell phones shop to TV shop to electronics. And the good thing is that they’re all legit.
Now, when it comes to your situation i think Prince might be able to point you to the right place coz i think he lives in Delhi not sure tho
About the games launched here, it’s still a pain man..only 12 or 13 titles released and all of them suck to some extent at least. No GRAW as of now as i’m also dying to get that game.

so i have no ideas. Recently i spotted Prey and Ninety Nine Nights in Kolkatta since i am here for a vacation. I have no plans to pick up the latter and i am not sure about Prey. I am extremely tired with the availability of games, I actually cant see any hope.and i am very much sure that we will be getting Splinter Cell A very late, prolly mid November and GoW next year. I cant even spot Oblivion over here and i really dont plan to pick up any old titles.

It will be best if we can choose one person from among us in the forum and let that person represent us in the best possible way. Some Ray of hope, today i spotted 1 new game, this time in Planet M. Fight Night Round 3.
Rates of the games wont come down since they are already competitive compared to the international rates. I might pick up PDZ or Kameo or Fight Night Round 3. To be honest i dont feel like picking any but i have already finished DOA4 and i really hate PGR3 [Project Gotham Racing 3]so i need to pick another title.

If u wanna write an email to Mr Mohit Anand, go ahead and write it. I am not sure what they are planning for new games.

meh, after the world completes the new game title we get it after a month.

Pete, if you write the mail, make sure u provide a link to this particular page, so that after reading he does come to know what kind of problems are being faced by the users who shelled 30K each on somethin whose Tech support totally sucks and on top of that 70% of services like Xbox Live, accessories, games are not available.

I dont think they have Xbox 350 in Egypt, incase your dad some how manages to find xbox360 somehow do check it if its PAL or NTSC. In any case you will end up getting it modded since the legal games over here are region encoded meaning it will only run on Indian Console.

Can we download the latest xbox360 dashboard upgrade from our computer and then write that file on a cd and then run that cd on the xbox360 so that the dashboard gets upgraded, as my xbox 360 is not connected to a broadband connection or for that matter to any internet connection. Is there any other way of doing this.

My friend, these games won’t come for at least a month or so (and even that is not confirmed).
There is a big discussion going on over at the Indian xbox forums about game availability and many other things. I hope the people in charge recognize the seriousness of this issue and take prompt actions.

why aren’t the microsoft people updating the indian xbox’s site. They are not telling about the new games going to launch in india. They are just making fools out of us!!! I have to literally beg my father to buy me this game and now this is the kind of service that we are getting.
What about the email which we were going to send to mr.mohit anand? And by the way I just have only one game with me and that’s burnout:revenge. Though it is a very good, but I need to get some good first person shooter.
I also have an idea about us sharing games with each other so that we are able to play more games with less amount of money. What do you all say about it? I live in delhi, we could courier games to other.

I dont really have any problems with availability of games but i havnt been able to find COD3,SC:DA and RAWVSSMACK 07.Guys living in delhi i suggest shop number 2 palika bazaar cause that man ships most of his games from outside plus theres no real fixed price so you can bargain a little.btw shrey that courier idea is not sumthing ill do cause i cant really trust ne one else with my games.Prince fight night 3 is gud but not gr8.I suggest 1 week more

I think I will go to that shop myself after my 1 semester papers are over on 24 this month. I would like to buy 2 games. One of them would be ghost recon advanced warfighter and the other one would be either oblivion or gears of war, splinter cell if he has got them. Ok, i’ll start by saying that if anyone has been over to the Indian xbox forums lately, there was a huge misunderstanding when a person with the gamer tag AquarianIceman just showed up out of no where and claimed to be Mohit and directing everyone to Ebay.in to buy games, because people were getting restless and upset (including me ). And since then he’s been trying very hard to prove to everyone that he’s the person he’s claiming to be, and finally everyone agreed that it was indeed the Man himself.
Anyways, what i wanted to say was that, since then he’s been open to suggestions and trying to improve the quality of service service he and his team are offering. And by actively participating in the forums, instead of telling us to chill out and wait till the games hit the shelves, he’s actually directing people to the Ebay.in site where MS has an official e-store selling all MS products (and yes, Xbox 360 games and consoles too) FREE of shipping. How exciting is that! In fact, just before yesterday they had around 16 games listed and today they’ve added 4 more games: Dead Rising,The Godfather,NBA 2K7, Prey
This my friends, is a sign of good times to come .

In your previous post you mentioned that you bought an original xbox, so whatever you download from the net will not work because your xbox has to be modded in order the for the game to bypass the security layer built into the box.

Although they are expensiveSo, my advice to you is that you try buying original games.

Im from Patiala Punjab, Bought 360 just a week back. Also bought Gears of War and Lost Planet. Now.. the first time i switched it on, i saw Ring of Death… whatta luck… next thing.. GOW disc is stuck at ACT 1 China Town… and wont load to the next level. So far i have seen ring of death twice on my console. But yesterday…. while i was playing Lost Planet, the ring of death appeared again and my console totally jammed…. i was playing just for 17 minutes…. Now i have no clue what to do.. get it replaced? im not even sure, if Microsoft will do that… I just want to ask…. is this what you get to buy legal stuff? This harassment?

Also if anyone here has any idea about the replacement issues, do let me know

i am planning to buy xbox360 soon. is it safe to buy from palika in delhi or alfa in bombay.? i checked and they are selling it for 18k (premium version) whereas its available for 27k in bangalore.alfa even sells pirated xbox games for 55 bucks.i bought my ps2 from them sometime back and its working fine.though i am not sure about xbox as its a big investement even at 18k.

But I have a question… I recently got my xbox 360 from the US… It came with the 3 year extended warranty for hardware faliure…

I wanted to know if I could get mine serviced/repaired from India( I live in delhi) if required under that warranty since it says it is a worldwide warranty, or will I have to send it back to the US which I would definately want to avoid…

Am really confused about this…
